Tiffin Cup Regional Winner and National Finalist 2016
Bombay Nite have been voted as the ‘Best Indian Restaurant’ in East Anglia by the prestigious Tiffin Cup. Nominated by our local MP Dr Therse Coffey along with a handful of other well established restaurants in the Suffolk Coastal District. A public vote announced us as winners of the local competition, thanks to all your tremendous support online. We then entered the regional competition where Tiffin sent in their secret judge to the Bombay Nite and all other regional nominees to score the food, service and experience at each restaurant. We were absolutely delighted when we were announced as the Regional Winners of the Tiffin Cup, as we had no idea that the secret judge had already been in.
By winning the regional competition we had made it to the Grand Final National Cook-off on Tuesday 12th July 2016 at the House of Commons. Alongside ourselves were some of the best restaurants in the country, we were put in a final head-to-head cook-off. We had to prepare a dish of our choice and serve up to the panel of 10 VIP Judges lead by Ainsley Harriott and chief guest; Speaker of the House of Commons, Rt. Hon John Bercow MP. Although we were slightly outside our comfort zone, our Head Chef Jamal Uddin was ready and raring to go as we put forward our ever-so-popular Lamb Lagan; soft and tender minted lamb. A nerve biting few minutes as we presented our dish to the judges to sample, but we were confident of what we had produced.
Unfortunately, we did not win the Tiffin but we placed in the Top 10 in the country. We are immensely proud of our team and what we have accomplished. This would not have been possible without the continuous support of all our customers who had voted for us and supported us along the way. We had a fantastic night and were given a personal tour by our Dr. Coffey, who we cannot thank enough for putting us forward for the award.
We are so overwhelmed and proud to claim the title of Tiffin Cup Regional Winner and National Finalist 2016. We hope that you continue show your support so we can have another chance to compete in the national final in the near future. Please come in to try our ‘House of Commons Lamb Lagan’ and we hope to see you next time when you come through our door.
Thank you once again, from all of us at the
